An Award Season Recap

The award season for movies from the year 2010 has begun! First there was the People’s Choice Awards and then the 16h Annual VH1 Critic’s Choice Movie Awards.An award season recap includes winners from both of these award shows. For the People’s Choice, the favorite movie winner was The Twilight Saga:Eclipse. Johnny Depp won the favorite movie actor award and Kristen Stewart won favorite actress. Winners from the People’s Choice Awards also included the favorite action movie, which was Iron Man 2 and the favorite action star, Jackie Chan. The Twilight Saga:Eclipse won the favorite drama, while Grownups took the favorite comedy spot. Favorite family movie was Toy Story 3. Adam Sandler won the favorite comedy star award.The movie, The Social Network, actually won 8 Academy awards including Best Picture and 4 Golden Globe awards including Best Picture. The 4 Critics Choice awards that this movie won were Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score. VH1′s 16th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards winners varied from the People’s Choice. The best picture award went to The Social Network and best actor to Colon Firth for The Kings Speech. Natalie Portman took home the best actress award for the movie, Black Swan. Best supporting actor award went to Christian Bale and best supporting actress to Melissa Leo; both the awards were for the movie The Fighter.The best young actor/actress award for the Critics Choice went to Hailee Steinfield for her role in True Grit. The best director winner was David Fincher for The Social Network. Inception won the best action movie award and Easy A was voted the best comedy.Of course, everyone has their own favorites which may differ from above.
